This small utility can be used to keep track of all the "stuff" you have on floppies or other media (including CD-ROM and Hard drives). The AboutBox has all the important hints so you can skip the rest of this file.

To use this application follow these simple steps
•1. Launch it !! . This will create a new file called "Floppy Catalogue Data & Prefs" in your preferences folder. This file is used to hold information about your disks.
•2. A window will be displayed . For now it is empty.
•3. Insert a floppy into your drive . The application will read the names of the files on that floppy and will display them in the Window. The floppy is then automatically EJECTED and the disk's name is hilighted in the catalogue window.
(If step 3 doesn't work, be sure that Floppy Catalogue is the foreground application when you insert the floppy[i.e its icon shows in the application menu at the top right hand corner of the screen]).
•4. Use the small blue arrows to see the contents of the floppy (just like in the Finder List Views).
•5. Repeat step 3 for every floppy you want to catalogue. Note that the contents are stored by the Floppy's name, so be sure that NO two floppies have the SAME NAME. (beware especially of the name Untitled!).
•6. Quit and then relaunch. All the floppies you have inserted should appear in the window (with their content of course!)
IMPORTANT NOTES:
•Be sure NOT to delete the file "Floppy Catalogue Data & Prefs" in your Preferences folder when you reinstall your system.
•Information is saved according to the floppy's NAME. If you change the name of a floppy, the application will NOT recognize it as the old one.It is up to you to keep track of the floppies' names.
•Some files will have their correct icons displayed, others will have a default generic icon instead. The former have their icons stored in the Finder's desktop database on the startup disk. The latter do not. Due to space and speed retsrictions, Floppy catalogue does not store copies of the icons, but relies instead on the Finder's database. Consequently, some icons might change when you rebuild the desktop.
• A file called Desktop appears on every floppy. This is an invisible file maintained and used by the finder. Other invisible files occasionally show-up as well. Aliases look like documents.
•Changes to the catalogue are saved to disk when the application quits. If the Mac crashes or freezes before that, those changes are not shown. Corollary: if you inadvertently delete a disk, "Force quit " floppy catalogue by pressing option-command-escape.
